Dave Brain's Biography
Author of Gardner's Guide to Drawing for Animation

Dave Brain began his animation career at Walt Disney Studio in 1966. He has animated Mickey Mouse, Charlie Brown, Scooby Doo, and dozens of Sesame Street characters. He has also done storyboard work for Garfield, Ducktales, and Cartoon Network’s Cow and Chicken Show in addition to animation direction for Winnie the Pooh, Men in Black, Batman, King of the Hill, and Grim and Evil.

In the early 70s he began teaching animation and
related subjects in his off-hours. He has taught at Cal Arts, Otis Art Institute, and The American Animation Institute. In 1989, Dave was sent to Ireland by Walt Disney to initiate an animation training program at The Dun Laoghaire School of Art. He is currently teaching beginning drawing and watercolor at Chouinard School of Art in South Pasadena, California.
